Boualem Sansal still vying for the Goncourt and Prix Femina, but more for the Renaudot – The World

The jury of the Prix Goncourt, Renaudot and Femina have indicated the second selections of their literary prizes which will be awarded on 3 and 4 November. There are only eight novels competing in fourteen of the first list for the Goncourt. The Renaudot have, Tuesday, October 7, halved their selection, moving from eighteen to nine titles. The ladies of the Femina have, in turn, selected ten French novels and ten foreign novels on initial lists, which respectively included fifteen and seventeen titles. The jury Femina welcomed a new title in his French selection: Hizya to Maïssa Bey (Dawn)

Boualem Sansal, which was unanimously with his novel <. em> in 2084, the end of the world (Gallimard) is certainly still in contention for the Goncourt and Prix Femina. However, the jury of the Renaudot eliminated. Nathalie Azoulai with Titus did not like Berenice (POL) and Hédi Kaddour, with The overriding (Gallimard) also passed the second round of the Goncourt and Femina lists.

Two other authors are named twice. This is Christophe Boltanski, with The Cache (Stock), nominated for the Femina and the Renaudot and Judith Perrignon with Victor Hugo died (The Iconoclast) present on the lists of Femina and Renaudot test.

Angot and Danzig, losers

Among the big losers of the second selections, included Christine Angot and Charles Dantzig. The author of An impossible love (Flammarion) was eliminated lists Goncourt and Femina, while the History of love and hatred (Grasset) is out of the Renaudot and Femina.

Delphine de Vigan, with Based on a True Story (JC Lattes) was removed from the Goncourt but kept in Renaudot. He came out the opposite to Simon Liberati, with Eva (Flammarion). Laurent Binet, with The Seventh language Function (Grasset) was eliminated from Femina but maintained Renaudot. The opposite of what happens to Villa Women , Cherif Madjalani (Threshold).

The Goncourt jury also retained Mathias Énard with Compass (Actes Sud), Alain Mabanckou, Tobie Nathan and Thomas B. Reverdy. The third and final selection will be announced Goncourt, Tuesday, October 27, from the Bardo Museum in Tunis, target of a deadly attack on March 18.

To make its third selection, the Renaudot jury will meet , also on October 27, but the Massa Hall, the headquarters of the Société des gens de lettres. In his essay prize, the Renaudot jury from eight to six titles.

In addition to its selection of French and foreign novels, the Femina jury has made its first selection test which includes nine titles including Sauve qui peut life , Nicole Lapierre (Threshold) and the biography of Claude Levi-Strauss, by Emmanuel Rent (Flammarion). The jury will meet again, Wednesday, October 21, to determine a second list of essays and a third list of French and foreign novels
