Ariane Labed in Assassin’s Creed, the French girl that kills ! – Le Figaro

INTERVIEW VIDEO – It is the other Frenchie in the blockbuster of Justin Kurzel. At 32 years old, this dancer training, named for the césar for best hope in 2014, continues its cinematographic adventure.

If Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard are the headliners ofAssassin’s Creed, another French actress has been on the positive of this game of massacre orchestrated by Justin Kurzel. Ariane Labed, 32 years old, is the incarnation of Maria, a woman member of the Brotherhood of Assassins during the Inquisition in Spain.

“We had a very animal with Michael Fassbender”

Before exchanging a few blows in the adaptation of the eponymous video game, which is the pride of Ubisoft, Ariane Labed can already boast of an adventurous career. Her years of dance, she keeps the physicality in the approach to his roles. She tells us that on the filming ofAssassin’s Creed, she had a “very animal” with Michael Fassbender. Before continuing: “to learn and understand through the fight, it is a gift.”

When questioned on the violence, very choreographed in Assassin’s Creed and clearly aimed at a wide public, she dares the parallel with the concept of the show. If the Spanish Inquisition used public executions as propaganda of his crusade, the Twenty-first century also has its share of exploitation: “there is an echo worth our time on this idea of the spectacle of violence and power, on the instrumentalization of religion, the need for control. What are the recurring themes and permanent human…”

Before integrating this blockbuster, the actress has walked on the steps of Cannes for two times. First, with The Lobster in 2015, a film directed by her husband, Yorgos Lanthimos, and then with to See the country, , which won this year’s screenplay prize in the un Certain Regard category.

In 2010, the public has been discovered in Attenberg Athina Rachel Tsangari. The actress plays a young lonely woman initiated sex by her best friend. She also won the prize for best actress at the Venice film Festival, chaired at the time by a certain Quentin Tarantino. It will turn then in A place on Earth with Benoît Poelvoorde, in Before Midnight alongside Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke, and finally in Fidelio, l’odyssée d’alice, which earned him a nomination for the César as most promising female. Hope that it confirms to the international since it comes to to participate in the biopic Mary Magdalene, a movie from Garth Davis with Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix.
