Claude Durand, influential French book publisher and translator, died yesterday in Paris. He was 76 years old.

Claude Durand was translated influential Spanish-language writers in French, including the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende and Jorge Semprun.

He was made a Commander of the Legion of Honour July.
