David Bowie’s album Blackstar dominates sales in France – Le Figaro

The last disc of the pop legend, is a bestseller in France. Released in stores on Jan. 8, two days before his death, additional Best 60,000 Blackstar already announced.

His talent and his songs will be eternal. David Bowie has dominated this week for the first time in his career, sales of hexagonal disks. His latest album, Blackstar , published just two days before last Sunday death, is in first place in the ranking published Friday by the union of producers (SNEP).

Swollen by the tragic news that shook the music world at the end of last week, Bowie’s previous albums have also experienced a new youth. No less than seventeen of its disks appear in the Top 100 of the Back Catalogue (ranking listing the more than two years old albums), the live Reality Tour (6th), the album The Next Day (9th) and The Rise and the Fall of Ziggy Stardust (22nd). This ranking of old albums is dominated by three discs of Michel Delpech, also disappeared early this year.

In the ranking of news, Blackstar, published Jan. 8, when the 69th anniversary of Bowie, Adele dislodged from first place. The last studio album Thin White Duke has sold 66,967 copies according to the specialized website Purecharts.
