Sir Paul McCartney in majesty at the Stade de France – Le Figaro

WE WERE – The former Beatle gave a concert Thursday night nearly three hours, alternating between tubes, rarities and tributes to his former comrades George and John.

Laurent Voulzy, confessed disciple, could not come: he himself was in concert in Toulouse, with Alain Souchon. But fans of Paul McCartney were present: Calogero, who bit his nails, worried, the TV stars Bernard Montiel and Guillaume Durand, the singer and Gregory Alexandre Bompard, CEO of Fnac, sitting in the gallery official.

Meanwhile, in the middle of the crowd, Thomas Bangalter, half of Daft Punk was walking incognito because without helmet, with women and children. Without first part of the concert began with a celebration of McCartney, whose songs were played in the sound, accompanied by images of his childhood projections, with the Beatles, in the Wings or solo. The monument eventually appear on stage at 21:10, dark jacket, white shirt, jeans and black Cuban heel and pointed toe boots Beatles conferring, soon 73 years old, a youthful look.

Concentrate, Sir Paul McCartney reads his notes in French in the text: “Tonight I will try to speak a little French. Paris is magical. Are you ready for the party? “He said, addressing him ecstatic crowd at the Stade de France. Eight Days a Week , square, sets the tone: the genius of pop is there to reel off one of the most impressive catalogs of popular music songs, with special emphasis on the Beatles repertoire. This did not prevent him from playing three excerpts from his excellent new album, New, released in 2013. And out of his hat some tracks never played in Paris: Temporary Secretary , which is might have happened or poor Hope for the Future , latest single to date.

“The medley of the B side of Abbey Road album concludes almost three hours of the concert of a brilliant human health and enthusiasm that seems to defy the laws of terrestrial gravity and aging. “

After a first professional third party but executed without great passion, McCartney starts to become really impressive from We Can Work It Out . With his major in alternating sequence in text and optimistic minor sequence more cynical about the song perfectly illustrates the complementarity between Paul and John Lennon. McCartney does not fail to pay tribute to his “mate” died in 1980 as he says, interpreting the extraordinary Here Today . This, alone on acoustic guitar that is most touching. After one start to the ukulele, Something , celebrating his “brother” George Harrison is adorned with the participation of McCartney’s live band, at her side for fifteen years. This is probably the top of a concert that has many moments of grace.

Paul also reminds that he wrote bad songs, such as Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da , probably the worst of all, the syrupy The Long and Winding Road or banal Another Day . This puts even more value absolute masterpieces like Blackbird or Eleanor Rigby . We enjoy when playing Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite ! and Lovely Rita Album beads Sgt Pepper . Must of course are on the menu: Live and Let Die B and on the Run, Back in the USSR, Let it Be, Hey Jude … a real deluge tubes which continue to the admiration of all public generations.

McCartney recalls his wife Nancy with delicate My Valentine , and his first wife Linda with Maybe I ‘m Amazed , one of his most beautiful songs. But it is even when embodies the legacy of The Beatles on his own he is most involved. It is thus clear his Epiphone Casino of the sixties on Paperback Writer , with neat vocal harmonies. Helter Skelter is a deluge of electricity before final dream: the medley of side B of the album Abbey Road Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight and The End , which conclude nearly three hours of the concert of a brilliant human health and enthusiasm that seems to defy the laws of terrestrial gravity and aging.
