Emmy: the Game of Thrones series leads with 24 nominations – CBC


         The series Game of Thrones has received an impressive total of 24 Emmy nominations 67th, the gala of American television.
     

         For the first time since its inception in 2011, the popular show inspired by the novels of George RR Martin is nominated for the Emmy for best drama series.           American Horror Story: Freak Show (19 nominations) and TV movies Olive Kitteridge (13 nominations) and Bessie (12 nominations) are also good figure , like House of Cards , Mad Men and Transparent , each with 11 mentions.
     

         The nomination list also reflects the rise of specialty channels, and digital platforms at the expense of general channels, which are not represented in the categories of best series.
     

         Several programs will be making their last appearance at the Emmy gala, starting with Mad Men , which was crowned Best Drama Series four times already. For its star, Jon Hamm, who plays the mysterious Don Draper, it will be the gala last chance, after seven nominations but no statuette.
     

         For the Emmy for best drama series, Game of Thrones and Mad Men will compete against Better Call Saul – series derived from Breaking Bad – , Downton Abbey , Homeland , House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black .
     

         As for best comedy series, Modern Family , Louie , Silicon Valley , Transparent , Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Veep will compete for the prize.
     

         The 67th Emmy, hosted this year by actor and comedian Andy Samberg, will take place on September 20 in Los Angeles.
