The mystery surrounding the release of the new Netflix series adaptation of Lemony Baudelaire orphans adventures Daniel Handler, is carefully maintained. No cast announced, not current location or release date. Nothing. Nothing, if not an extension to name, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events , and a short teaser unveiled Sunday thirty-five seconds nightmare and stuffed with references to novels

.

Spiders plump, carnivorous leeches, worms devouring what appears to be pasta with puttanesca and the famous tattooed eye of Count Olaf, which we guess so recognizable hairstyle just before a prophetic message “Something unfortunate is coming” (some disastrous thing is to come). The video was posted on YouTube by a named Eleanora Poe, one of the characters in the books, and has not been taken by the official Netflix account.

An “original” series

The series of 13 children’s novels had already been adapted to film in 2004 with a cast for the least impressive. Jim Carrey embodied the horrible Count Olaf, Meryl Streep very timid Agripinne aunt and talented Emily Browning starred as Violet Baudelaire. To recap, the three Baudelaire orphans, Violet, Klaus and Prunille inherit the wealth of their deceased relatives and are tossed from house to house, guardian tutor. The three kids are persecuted by the greedy Count Olaf, a distant relative who tries to appropriate the legacy. Jim Carrey, particularly popular in Europe, is the favorite of fans to resume his former role.

Netflix has already proven, with several successful series, such as House of Cards or The New Black is Orange . The site The Verge complains that the streaming company offers this adaptation as “original series”. No one knows if Netflix seeks by this adaptation, to reach a younger audience. The first images still show a very dark world, if not downright sinister.
