“Game of Thrones” unsurprisingly dominates the Emmy Awards with 23 nominations – La Montagne

(Relaxnews) – The HBO hit series won 23 nominations for the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, ahead of the mini-FX series “American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson” who accumulates 22 nominations

This Thursday, July 14, the Emmy Awards Academy unveiled, with the help of Lauren Graham and actors Anthony Anderson, named its 68th ceremony on 18 September.

As expected, “Game of Thrones” won nominations with 23 chances to win a statuette, one less than in 2015 when the fantasy epic was left with 12 trophies. In his first year of eligibility at the ceremony, “Mr Robot” is a beautiful entrance with six citations, including one in the premier class, Best Drama Series. Its main actor Rami Malek is also rub shoulders with giants such as Kevin Spacey, Bob Odenkirk and Kyle Chandler. Note that the series of USA Network aired since the summer of 2015, has already won the Golden Globe for best drama earlier this year.

Since arriving on FX in 2013, “The Americans” had never been included in the flagship category of the ceremony, constantly overshadowed by “Mad Men,” “Game of Thrones” and “Breaking Bad.” This year the drama joined the competition, as its actors Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, also appointed for the first time.

disappointment for “Orange is The New Black” and “The Good Wife”

However, the appointments have a bitter taste for the prison series Netflix, conspicuously absent from the ceremony, merely a single quote. Since “Orange is the New Black” rose from comedy to drama class last year, earnings declined significantly. In 2015, the series clinched four nominations and one win, against 12 citations and three awards in 2014.

In his final season, “The Good Wife” will not have the right to a tribute Emmy Awards as was the case last year for “Mad Men”. Even his heroine Julianna Margulies, yet winning twice in 2011 and 2014, can not claim a third statuette and a citation 9th.
