The Dardenne brothers attack a drama about terrorism – Le Figaro

During the festival of Lima Peru, the two Belgian directors announced that one of their new projects would focus on the rise of terrorism in Europe. Filming is expected to begin in the fall of 2017.

This is a sensitive subject and extremely steep that Belgian filmmakers will attack. Both present in the twentieth festival Peruvian lima paying them tribute, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne announced prepare a new project: a drama about the rise of terrorism in Europe

If no title is. yet determined, they said they were writing the script, and hope to shoot the film in a little less than a year in Belgium. By switching on the job producers, the brothers confirm that the drama Funny father -d’Amélie Van Elmbt- will be distributed in the US by Martin Scorsese.

Until the release of The Unknown Girl , presented at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, on October 12, the Dardenne also support two other brothers, Yannick and Jérémie Renier, who realize Carnivores , their first feature film.

If the theme of terrorism may surprise among the Dardenne brothers, and only confirms their boldness, we must more likely to expect a social drama than a political or dramatic subject. The TV movie Do not leave me already tried last year to stage intimate way to Islamist radicalization among young people.

It remains to see how the film will be received in the hex after the deprogramming of Made in France parallel to the attacks of 13 November, and Bastille Day there just one month. In smaller productions, the very just The Disintegration , directed by Philippe Faucon in 2012, was an enlightening reflection on the subject, but unfortunately suffered from anonymity caused by the reluctance of distributors.
