This is (already!) eight years, the Greater Lyon welcomes the Festival of Light, a great mass of cinema heritage, where stars, film buffs, or the simply curious are piled up in the rooms of the city and suburbs to (re)discover masterpieces. Thierry Frémaux, Bertrand Tavernier and the whole team of the Institute of Light have managed to impose this appointment in a calendar festival already loaded thanks to a programming course beyond reproach, but also a sense of conviviality little common. Evidence of this success, the edition of 2016, has been extended for two days. The festival takes place from 8 to 16 October.
The culmination of that raout is the Prize Light to a leading personality, that accompanies end-to-end the event. After Martin Scorsese, it is the turn of Catherine Deneuve to be spent. The opportunity to review in his presence Repulsion, The pounding, The Siren of the Mississippi river, the Skin of an ass, Tristana, or Funny place for a meeting… But also his films from the bedside, such as The River Jean Renoir, Casino, Martin Scorsese’s Women, of George Cukor. The rest of the feast consists in particular of tributes to Marcel Carné, Buster Keaton, and to the mythical monsters from the studio Universal (Frankenstein, Dracula et al).

also of note, the program “Quentin Tarantino: 1970″. Three years ago, right here, the american filmmaker was a projection on the memorable day of Rogue by Claude Lelouch, where he announced to do a job search around all of the films release in 1970. Ten of these films will be presented this year, including the unavoidable: Mash, The Butcher, Zabriskie Point, The Knee of Claire, a Love Story, Five easy pieces, or even the very generous Hollywood Vixens. let’s Go, everyone in Lyon!
