“The unknown Girl” : Adele Haenel is conducting the investigation – The Obs

Jenny keeps continuously his coat on the back and not be defeated never in his scowled, actually very concentrated. Not to let themselves be moved by the patients to be able to care for them, this is the principle that it reminds her of her wizard after it has cracked. A young doctor in a health centre in Seraing, a suburb of Cork, Jenny (Adele Haenel) listens, feels, belly, button people, but people do not touch, except at the end, when she will remove her coat.

Don’t conclude that others are indifferent, on the contrary, she did everything to go well, and does it well. But, one evening, as the office is closed for a time, it does not respond to an alarm bell. The next day, a young woman is found dead, the skull smashed in, on a bank of the Meuse river, just opposite the dispensary. A African and no-one knows the identity, and that a surveillance camera caught the face frightened, a few seconds of panic, to the moment where she sounded at the door.

Then, Jenny survey, she wants to find out who was the woman buried anonymously and that provides a burial. Plagued by guilt, Jenny, in addition, has proved to be a bit brutal towards his assistant, which was then abandoned to become a doctor.

Murder, mystery, threats

the Two feelings of guilt for a same character, it’s probably one too many, two is frustrating : 1 + 1, at the cinema, often it’s less. The film loses intensity as the winding, which were conducted by the Dardenne after Cannes (seven minutes to be sacrificed), has allowed him to return partially, but the sense of urgency is not there, or not enough, especially as the resolution of the enigma (who is this woman and who killed her) seems a little shipped.

All the data in the film noir are : murder, mystery, investigation, threats, but reduced to the dimension of ingredients, where in the previous movies they advenaient organically.

The mystery of the Dardenne brothers : never enough set

similarly, successive outbreaks of interpreters to the usual Dardenne, Fabrizio Rongione, Olivier Gourmet, Jérémie Renier, Christelle Cornil, and others, all excellent, however, give the impression of a little comfort in the report with the intentions of the film.

All this does not prevent “the unknown Girl” to be set at a level that few filmmakers can claim to achieve.
