Star Wars 8 : Luke Skywalker, or Rey, which is the Last Jedi ? – melty.fr

there It is ! After months of anticipation, assumptions, false rumors and announcements, it is FINALLY here ! The official title of Star Wars 8 has been unveiled, and – Oh My God – it is as surprising and mysterious as exciting. The film is called now “The Last Jedi ” in the original version, and it makes us completely crazy. Because inevitably, as was done for The Awakening of the Force, one wonders about its meaning, which, here, does not seem frankly very optimistic by his side a little final. But before jumping to hasty conclusions and ask if one of our characters is going to die tragically, one may already be asking himself, to which the title refers. And there, th ere are two obvious solutions which we literally jump in the eyes. The last Jedi of Episode VIII could also very well be Luke Skywalker, one who, after having defeated the Emperor, attempted to reform the Jedi Order, Rey, the newcomer is able to master the Force by instinct without having (a priori) never received an education. So, which of these two characters is most likely to be affected by this title ? The editorial' of melty made the predictions !

Luke appears as the most obvious solution

is the most simple and the most obvious, “The Last Jedi ” could refer to Luke, who remains one of the characters in Star Wars the most popular even today. And this for several reasons. Already, simply because it is literally THE last Jedi existed in the galaxy. With the disappearance consecutive Obi-Wan and Yoda, Luke is the only one to master the Force as a former Jedi, even when the title has not been awarded – the Council no longer exists (duh…) – and even if it has not received a complete workout. But he is a Jedi, who even took the disciples before Ben Solo is not turned to the dark side and killing everyone. And then, there is another proof, less evident, that we are led to believe that Luke is the character in question by the title of Star Wars 8. And this evidence, it is a small sentence… from the drop-down text of the Awakening of the Force, which refers to our hero as ” last of the Jedi “. As a result, one would tend to believe that Star Wars 8, which should be so much focus on Luke and on the reasons of his exile, also intends to reveal to us what this means, to be the last Jedi and the responsibilities that this implies.. Except that in fact, there is another pretender to the title of Jedi, and this is obviously Rey.

But Rey also could be affected by title

Because we all understood that the relationship between Rey and Luke Skywalker would be at the heart of Star Wars 8 and that our young heroine, freshly landed on Ach-To will follow the teachings of the Jedi. The original title in English is actually quite blur, you would think that this is actually Rey who is directly targeted. However, the assumption poses little problem. On the one hand, Rey is not a Jedi. It will perhaps become, yes, but for the moment it does (probably) that discover the Strength. And there is little chance for it to become a Jedi in two hours time. On the other hand, we can imagine that Luke, who does rejuvenates, clears little by little behind his apprentice for him to leave the place and to entrust it with the responsibility to perpetuate the tradition of the Jedi. It is also a possibility (we prefer not to talk about the death of Luke, because after the Han, it is just too much…). Especially because, as we have often repeated, the new trilogy is supposed to tell the story of a new generation and see Rey take on the role of the last Jedi would, therefore, rather in this sense.

The title of the film is quite mysterious

But there is also a third possibility : Luke AND Rey are the famous ” last of the Jedi “. The title can indeed be read in the plural, finally, and thus could also mention the Jedi and his apprentice. They are, after all, both now and, provided that Rey did not turn against Luke, as many think that it will do so, the duo could very well revive the tradition of the Jedi. The film will focus on the training of Rey, on the one hand, but also on the resistance of the two Jedi against the dark side, Snoke and the First Order. And in this case, the words “last of the Jedi” did not intend the planned end of order, as one might expect, but would in fact characterize the place of the two characters in the galaxy. Anyway, the title of Star Wars 8 raises a lot of questions and new hypotheses ! In your opinion, to which the title does it reference ?
