Season 6 of The Walking Dead, the balance sheet: the best season since the beginning? – Premiere.fr Cinema

In recent years, The Walking Dead had seriously tends to rest on its laurels. Some zombies, a little suspense, one or two people here and there to shock the audience, and then not much in the middle. He had to wrestle many stopgap episodes and extension to intrigue, to see the story move slightly. But with this sixth season, it seems that the authors of The Walking Dead have heard the criticism. Warning spoilers

For a long time this series was not as exciting. Also panting. Also consuming. There was everything in this new salvo of 16 episodes, which just ended. Many first zombies. Since season 2, the undead were no longer shown also threatening. More gory and realistic than ever, “Walkers” career presented themselves by hundreds at the gates of Alexandria, from the first episode. With the highlight being the collapse of the tower, at the end of episode 7, which offered us two absolutely epic episodes. The terrifying zombies are reminded of good memories of viewers, by shedding the blood afloat

It must be admitted that the season 6 of the Walking Dead has been conspicuous by its spectacular sequences. The action scenes breathtaking multiplied over the months. It started with the surprise and destructive attack of the Wolves, in episode 2. It continued with the massive raid of Alexandrian based Advanced saviors. Before Carol and Maggie become killer shock after being captured in episode 13. In general, the series has relied heavily on fighting this year, and many took it. Especially as it has not done things for free. All these battles have mainly contributed to situate our small group of survivors in this post-apocalyptic world

So they spent many seasons to wander through the woods, looking for one no longer knows what, Rick and his band have finally found their place. The city of Alexandria is a place where you can live, not just survive. It can trade with others sell services, find new recruits … But by finding the joys of an organized society, our former vagabonds meet again face a major problem: the others. This season 6 had fun portraying distinctly one of the most inevitable moral philosophy of life in society: man is a wolf to man. An idea that was first introduced in a very literal way with the bloodthirsty Wolves, and now continues with the Saviors of Negan. More zombies, the greatest danger of surivvants, are the other survivors

in this new situation, the Walking Dead have logically evolved. They have changed extensively. Rick has become an unscrupulous leader. Carol has become a ruthless killer but full of remorse. Eugene turned into warrior. And in general, this season 6 left much room for exploration of the characters. Abraham was discovered in a new light, thanks to Sasha. Michonne suddenly succumbed to the charm of Rick. Tara has won Denise. Morgan and has fully unveiled in a beautiful flashback episode. With calm returned to Alexandria, we have seen new emotions rise to the surface and the characters have undoubtedly gained thick this year. This began to be pressing

We also discovered some very interesting new heads. Negan Dwight saviors and villains, of course, rapidly stood in the mythology of the series. But the presentation of the Colony Hilltop also a sensation. She was able to meet the expectations of fans of comics, with Gregory ( Xander Berkeley ) and a quite impressive especially a terribly cool Jesus, we hope to see much more in the future.

the richer, more human and more captivating than the previous ones this season 6 has not forgotten to rely on the major asset of the Walking Dead : its brutal twists to get you the jaw, the Americans call very simply the “OMG Moments”. Of course, the memorable clash of episode 3, “Glenn is dead,” was frankly farfetched and dispensable. But the brutal deaths of Jessie and her children, the arrow in the eye or the eye of Denise exploded Carl are all shocking and traumatic sequences, beautifully brought, and that will mark the fans for long. And what about the final scene, with this lyrical introduction of Negan, facing a more helpless and afraid that Rick never …

In the end, it took a lot of things (sometimes even a too), but the Walking Dead is finally returned to the cool and electric series it was in its infancy. He must now hope that the writers continue at the same pace, with the season 7.
