Sam: discover Rita, Danish dramedy which is adapted the series with Mathilde Seigner – Screenrush

While Sam, led by Mathilde Seigner in teacher crazy, continues its broadcast tonight on TF1, focus on Rita, Danish series which it is the French remake. A light dramedy that is worth visiting, we’ve seen Sam or not.

Airing last Monday on TF1, Sam, led by Mathilde Seigner in the title role of a teacher like no other, has already become a great success for the chain, with 7 million viewers present on average before the first 2 episodes (season into account 6). But what everyone may not know is that this new series, produced by the late Valerie Guignabodet, died last February, is actually the adaptation of Rita, a dramedy broadcast in Denmark between 2012 and 2015 time of 3 seasons of eight episodes each.

Far from being a true copy, that’s why Rita , available in France on Netflix, really deserves to be tempted , that has been seen or not its french remake …

Rita, a solar series

the Scandinavian series can do in the dark, the cold, the hard-hitting, panting. With success, as scriptwriting and visual, such as Bron, The Killing, Lilyhammer, or Trapped, this is clearly demonstrated. But the Nordic countries also know we offer bright, engaging series, which catch us with their freshness and which you never want to leave the characters. Rita is the proof.

Because, just like Sam Moreover, the great strength of the series lies in its cash heroin, sexy, especially larger than life, camped by actress Mille Dinesen, famous in Denmark for having performed a kind of Bridget Jones Danish in the film Nynne . A teacher loudmouth, who collects dolls Trolls (a passion like any other!), Smoke in the toilet, sleeping with the principal, says she became an instructor “to protect children from their parents,” and hardly looms the same relationship with his children with her pupils. Because obviously, character adulescent , stuck between a refusal to grow, a liberal, and a chaotic personal life, actually a professor loved children.

Mille Dinesen, alias Rita Madsen, an unconventional teacher.

and if Sam and Rita share remake forces, the same ability to switch between sequences taking place in schools and moments of life deprived of their heroine, the French adaptation chose to have the spotlight on the relationship between Sam and her ex, Alexandre (Jean-Pierre Lorit), which happens to be the future father of her eldest son, unlike the original series that merely raises this past love story during some scenes of the first 8 episodes for example. Rita and allows more seats to its secondary characters, starting with Jeppe, the youngest son of the latter (whose homosexuality is much more central in the story), or Hjørdis, a young teacher completely crossed we can not adore.

school of life … Danish

Apart from a nearby plot but woven differently (the slap given by the character of Charlotte in 1st Gaccio episode of Sam for example occurs late in the season 2 Rita and is given by another character), Rita has the merit of offering us a dive in the Nordic education system, often cited for its quality, but remains quite foreign to the facts (eg how, during one of the first episodes, the sugar is banned within the school which teaches Rita). A vision of education that promotes equality and development of students, and in which the primary and college gathered at the same institution (Rita therefore teaches students from roughly 7 to 15 years). But as “perfect” as it is, this educational system is not immune to excesses and crises, which obviously makes the salt of the series.

Rita and her younger son Jeppe (Nikolaj Groth)

then, the show created by Christian Torpe surprised by its modernity, freshness and realism in its approach to a lot of social issues, such as drugs to school, homosexuality, the loss of a close, or divorce. Jeppe, son of Rita played by touching and very fair Nikolaj Groth, saw his homosexuality for example not as a burden, and that is, it must be said, quite refreshing. The other two children Rita, Ricco and Molly, they struggle to adapt to adulthood and the responsibilities that go with it, much like their mother after all! In the end, it is this cast of characters full of loopholes, that sound “real”, that makes all the singularity of this deliciously balanced mixture of drama and comedy.

A success which is no longer to prove

As Bron before it (adapted under the name the Bridge in the US and Tunnel in France), Rita has had the honors of the remake, not once. Before Sam , whose episodes 3 and 4 will be broadcast tonight on TF1, a US adaptation was proposed in 2013 by Bravo, who has ordered a pilot worn by Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) before giving up this remake project a few months later. Tessa , the Dutch version of Rita a, it, by against luckier and the first season aired in the Netherlands in November.

Moment of complicity between Rita and her colleague Hjørdis (Lise Baastrup), which had the honors of his own spin-off in 2015

Today, despite its success in Denmark and abroad thanks to Netflix, the future Rita remains well blur since season 3 date there is already a year and it has neither been canceled nor been renewed. The Danish TV 2 channel controlled by against a spin-off, Hjørdis , focused on young colleague Rita embodied by Lise Baastrup, which took the form of a mini-series in 4 episodes issued in spring 2015. As for Sam , in spite of excellent ratings last week, she might not know season 2, or be without its leading actress, since Mathilde Seigner not announced not wanting to re-enlist. Fortunately, there is 24 episodes of Rita to console …

Enter the colorful world of Rita and her series Hjørdis derived through the full available on Netflix.

the Secret Elise, Malaterra … is the future of the French series in the remake?
