Jacqueline Wild remains in prison – The Point

The court ruled: Jacqueline Wild will remain in prison. The penalty enforcement court (TAP) Melun (Seine-et-Marne) on Friday rejected his parole application, announced the prosecutor of Melun, Beatrice Angelelli. Sentenced to ten years in prison for murdering her abusive husband, the wife of 68 years was later pardoned by François Hollande, becoming the symbol of conjugal violence. The prosecutor who took requisition favorable to his release “will appeal,” added the prosecutor. It is within the prison Réau (Seine-et-Marne), where Jacqueline Wild was transferred early February to undergo psychological and medical expertise intended to “evaluate” his “dangerousness”, the court responsible penalties (TAP) has served.

“what is clear from the decision is that it is criticized for not having confirmed that she finally chose to commit those offenses,” said his lawyers, Nathalie Tomasini and Janine Bonaggiunta. “It is clear that it can claim to live near the scene of the facts, in an environment that, given the support it enjoys, might hold a position of victimhood,” they added. The lawyers will hold a press conference at their noon practice.

The floor of Melun had favorable requisitions to the release of the sixties, convicted on appeal in December to ten years in prison by the Assize court of the Loir-et-Cher for the murder of her husband, who beat her for years and had raped his daughters. “It’s a record that meets all the conditions of parole”, had told AFP the prosecutor in Melun, Beatrice Angelelli, who had already planned to appeal if the court issued an unfavorable decision.

Jacqueline Wild was convicted at trial and on appeal, of killing her husband of three shots in the back in 2012 after 47 years of marital hell. At the hearing, his three daughters testified violently dependents against their father, entrepreneur of a transport company, died at age 65. All three were raped, beaten, as was their mother. Their brother, also a victim of the violence of his father, committed suicide the day before their mother killed her husband. “Our father has died, and for me, that’s a relief,” the jury had launched one of his daughters was raped at the age of 16 years and serious violence victim as she became an adult.

“an exceptional human situation”

the conviction on appeal sparked a wave of mobilization and demand for presidential pardon made by his daughters had been supported by many parliamentarians and personalities. A support committee was formed, bringing together including the Socialist Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, ecologist Daniel Cohn-Bendit and the co-founder of the Left Party Jean-Luc Mélenchon. A petition “Free Jacqueline! »Had collected 400,000 signatories throughout France.

” Mr. President, our mother suffered throughout her marriage, a victim of the influence of my father, a violent man, tyrannical, perverse and incestuous, “pleaded daughters Jacqueline Wild, Sylvie, and Fabienne Carole, in a letter to the head of state. Two days after receiving at the Elysee his three daughters and his lawyers, Francois Hollande had granted on 31 December a presidential pardon to Jacqueline Wild, under the law of grace that gives it the Constitution. “Faced with an exceptional human situation,” the president wanted to “make possible, as soon as possible, the return of Jacqueline Wild with his family,” but “in respect of the judiciary”, had then said the Elysee.

François Hollande has exercised only once the right of pardon in January 2014, allowing the parole of the oldest detainee of France, Philippe El Shennawy without extinguishing its sentence. Following the “evaluation” of the “dangerousness” of the convicted, the disciplinary committee of security measures, a committee including the prefect of the department and a barrister, issued an “unfavorable opinion” at his release. But this remained Advisory. If the decision of the Penal Enforcement court is favorable to the release of Jacqueline Wild, “it will necessarily be accompanied by an electronic surveillance” had told AFP its lawyers, Nathalie Tomasini and Janine Bonaggiunta.
