At the time, the director of photography Michael Seresin, explained: “The movie takes a much darker tone than previous ones, which results in more dramatic lighting and a scary shadows.” He also praised the work of the director: “Alfonso rarely uses the close-up and promotes the wide angle that gives the environment as seriously as actors”
