“Untouchables” among the best films of the last 25 years – Le Point

A 25th anniversary deserved a ranking. To celebrate its quarter century, the American website specializing in IMDb movie, established the ranking of 25 favorite feature films of its users. The ratings of 1.5 million Internet users have established this top 25. A ranking dominated by the (super) American productions. The radius of the best rated filmmakers found Christopher Nolan, winner, with five films represented: Interstellar (2014), Inception (2010), The Dark Knight (2008), Batman Begins (2005) and Memento (2000). Peter Jackson, author of the trilogy Lord of the Rings (rated between 2001 and 2003) and Martin Scorsese (Goodfellas, The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street ) complete the podium.Le the most profitable film director is Steven Spielberg with $ 3.8 billion in revenue recorded between 1990 and 2015. Note the absence of director: all directors cited are men. Level actor, Leonardo DiCaprio confirms its bankable actor and popular status as it is most present in the rankings with four films.

The United States are over-represented in the rankings, evidence of hegemony that only two films manage to challenge. Life is Beautiful, winning at Cannes and the Oscars, is designated as the best film of 1997. And crowing, a French film is present in the top 25 IMDb. If Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is achieved by a French Michel Gondry, it is untouchables that represents France. The film by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano, which features François Cluzet and Omar Sy, is the favorite movie of 2011.

With 19.4 million admissions in France, 9.1 million in Germany and $ 445 million in revenue (the best performance of a film shot in another language than English), untouchables is a record film. And this ranking confirms its place among the “greats” of the past 25 years
