Omar Sharif. The interpreter died of Doctor Zhivago – Ouest-France

Omar Sharif has just died at the age of 83. He was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. His son had revealed his illness in May in an interview with the newspaper El Mundo . “It is difficult to know at what stage it is in. Michel Chalhoub Born in Alexandria in 1932, Omar Sharif had studied mathematics and physics at the University of Cairo. He had discovered the theater in Alexandria and made his film debut in “Heaven Hell” (1954) with the star Faten Hamama. He married a year later.



A legend of cinema

The actor became an international star after starring in the 1960 cult films Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago, both directed by David Lean. These benefits earned him two Golden Globes and an Oscar nomination.

More recently, he won a Golden Lion at the Venice Festival for his entire career, and a César Award for Best Actor in a drama for her role in Mr. Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran.

In addition to his passion for cinema, the famous mustache was keen on horse racing and avid bridge. So passionate that he represented Egypt at the Bridge Olympics in 1968, and writes a book about this card game.
