Doors open to the SPA: adopt a pet, a real responsibility – Liberation

Last chance this weekend to go adopt a pet: the SPA, which this year celebrates its 170 years (see how to celebrate), organizes adoptions days in its 60 shelters and houses, where almost of 9000 animals await a master, a family, a structure able to accommodate them. Are presented dogs and cats, of course, but also the Nac (New pets so widespread that they are not very new), rabbits, hamsters, gerbils and other. In an attempt to sensitize humans to this sad affair, the Company uses an established photographer in the US, Sophie Gamand, author of endearing (but not nunuches) portraits and small doggies too cute cats in situations obviously touching.

The problem, remember, is not to be moved by a beast and will, right now, at home, but to keep it for fifteen life years of the beast, with the resulting costs (the author of these lines has paid 1550 euros for a cat who swallowed the string roast, not counting the 800 euros that has been done shoot like a rabbit by hunters, not counting the red chips chickens, sterilization and vaccines, boxes and seeds of everyone, etc.) This is the budget of a small republic.

“in good conscience”

Between June and August, about 4000 animals were collected by the SPA. With the rise and drop of the rarest adoptions, SPA’s shelters have reached their maximum capacity to host: nearly 45,000 animals are housed each year in the sixty shelters. Recall that France holds the record in terms of households with pets. More than half of us have in fact at least one pet , but the country also holds the European palm in terms of dropouts: Each year, about 100,000 animals are forgotten “on the edge road “(that is an image).

To counter this reality, the SPA intends to try to focus more adoptions. It is necessary that part of the animal profile with that of the adopter ‘ If an animal can bring to his master with infinite love and fidelity foolproof, whatever the circumstances, then his master must s engage in conscience to respond sustainably , “said Natacha Harry, volunteer president, on the website of the organization.

This open house weekend is an opportunity to SPA to highlight the responsible adoption. Whenever a person collects an animal, the association ensures that this commitment is carefully considered and that all physical and emotional conditions exist to successful adaptation. There is even a charter of the adopter, viewable here before committing for life (of the animal).
