Furious, the distributor Wild Bunch has cracked Thursday a press release: “ While the classification committee films from the CNC, recommended last week a ban to – 16 years for the film Love Gaspar Noé, we learn with dismay that the Minister of Culture and Communication asked what the film returns to commission, with the hope of a more severe classification. We can only surprise us with a previously reserved approach to a combination of extreme conservatism.
We are confident that the commission will issue a notice to the same precedent and will continue to support and assist a demanding film, bold and in step with the times . ”
Let us add that we stand for, and so much love, this intimate film, while smaller and sweeter than shocking or sulfur, where a love triangle (the hero, a kindergarten blonde, a brunette junkie) loves, flourishes, injured, seeks, is leaving and will not forget. Nothing more. A ban for minors would not only be unfair but, above all, she would serve. Far from Cannes scandal, we’ll talk about it incessantly with its author.
The classification committee will soon communicate on the subject. Love Gaspar Noe out on screens on 15 July.
