Death of Terry Pratchett, the British king of the fantasy – Europe1

He was known for his humorous fantasy works, including the series of novels of the “Discworld”. British novelist Terry Pratchett died at the age of 66 years, said his publisher. The author of nearly 70 books died at his home, “his cat asleep on his bed, surrounded by his family,” wrote the editor in a statement.

His latest book completed in the summer 2014. Terry Pratchett was diagnosed several years ago by a rare form of Alzheimer’s disease, PCA (posterior cortical atrophy), which involves, among other things, a decline in vision and the ability to writing.


Still, he finished his last book, a new volume of “Annals of Discworld” to summer 2014. The “Annals” aimed at a young adult audience and are distinguished by their irreverent tone. His novels also borrow from classical culture and mythology as the rock culture. Terry Pratchett was crowned in 2006 better living British writer, behind JK Rowling, creator of Harry Potter.
