The American filmmaker Tim Burton and British actress Helena Bonham Carter separated after thirteen years of marriage, told AFP on Tuesday a spokesman for the actress.
“Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter parted amicably earlier this year remain friends and continue to raise their children together,” Billy Raymond, born in 2003 and Nell in 2007 said the spokesman in a brief statement.
Burton, 56, is one of America’s brightest filmmakers. It was known to the public in the late 1980s with “Beetlejuice” and especially two films on the superhero “Batman” (1989) and “Batman Returns” (1991).
It is known for its unique world combining Gothic and fantastic, with become cult movies like “Edward Scissorhands,” “Sleepy Hollow” and “Mars Attacks!”, among many others.
Director to perpetually disheveled hair and blue glasses, and his favorite actress, brunette delicate face and large forehead, 48, met on the set of “Planet of the Apes,” released in 2001.
The actress has appeared in all the films of the director since, including “Big Fish,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Alice in Wonderland,” his biggest hit in terms of inputs with the exception of “Big eyes” Burton’s next film, released Thursday in the United States and in France in March.
The couple was known for his iconoclastic and lifestyle including live each in two separate but neighboring houses in London.
This friend of Johnny Depp, his favorite actor since its inception, has lived long before with actress and model Lisa Marie, who starred in several of his films, including “Ed Wood” and “Mars Attacks!”.
