In ancient Egypt, Osiris is a god apart. Murdered and cut into pieces by his brother, he will be resurrected by Isis, sister and wife. And if more is known today about this mysterious god, thanks to a spectacular exhibition held at the Institute of the Arab world.
These are the Research Franck Goddio, star of underwater archeology, which enabled the creation of this exhibition. For twenty years, Franck Goddio and divers research teams have recovered some 15 000 objects of the sunken cities of Thonis-Heracleion and Canopus, near the Nile delta.
These underwater excavation permit to understand the cult of Osiris, this strange god who dies and is reborn constantly. In this exhibition, we discover for the first time the ritual instruments of the high priests of the cult, like a cup used for offerings or a gold mini-amulet supposed to replenish the body of the god.
