The surprises

The Affair is far the best new series of the season and deserves to be rewarded. We do not expect to see Jane the Virgin nominated but the young Gina Rodriguez brings freshness in too classical category. Viola Davis carries the soap How to Get Away With Murder on his shoulders and The Good Wife is still one of the best off-cable series.

Omissions

The Walking Dead with its ups and downs but deserves better than the zero points and should have bitten instead of Downton Abbey . Ditto for Sons of Anarchy , which just ended, Justified or Masters of Sex . Louie and comedies Fox ( New Girl , Mindy Project and Brooklyn Nine-Nine ) are all much more funny that Girls . No Amy Poehler, really?
