INTERVIEW – For the first time since the hospitalization of Michel Polnareff, and while the war of nerves intensifies around the reasons for the cancellation of the two last concerts of the singer, his producer, Gilbert Coullier, gives his version of the facts in the Figaro. And does not preclude prosecution.
It is one of the biggest French producers. Johnny Hallyday, Michel Sardou, Julien Clerc, Gad Elmaleh, Dany Boon… The most famous artists, whose career is the longest, have entrusted him with their tours. In 2015, eight years after a first series of concerts in triumph, Gilbert Coullier had made the bet deal to new of Michel Polnareff. Last 2 December, the singer has made the choice not to honor his contract and refused to get on the stage of the Salle Pleyel, in Paris. Between the artist and his producer, relationships are now on by counsel interposed.
LE FIGARO. – Michel Polnareff had he truly expected an album before the start of his tour?
GILBERT COULLIER. -it has been decided as a result of the announcement of the release of a new album of Michel Polnareff. This disc should be an event, because it did not come out of the original album from thirty years ago. We’d never engaged in a tour without this promise. The disc was released in October of 2015, then November, then December, then by February 2016. In the end, it was never released. This unfulfilled promise has significantly affected the success of the tour after cancelled dates, was already in deficit.
what is Michel Polnareff ambition was artistically for this tour?
We could not do less good and less grand than the 2007 tour. A consequent production was inevitable. It was desired, we have accepted it.
when you have reports-they started to deteriorate?
When he began to try to justify the success of the tour by the prices of places that would be too high. Michel Polnareff has asked her fans on Twitter and Facebook to put pressure on me so he does not end his tour at the Zénith de Nantes but in London, Tokyo and New York. At 16: 30, Michel Polnareff decided to cancel the concert in the evening, without my knowledge. He simply warned our technical director, who contacted me immediately. do you Think that Michel Polnareff has been able to meet the problems of alcohol during his tour?
In regards to the evening’s alcoholic the day before the concert at Pleyel, it had its day of release. Day during which he has the right to do as seemeth him good, even if this could have or not have consequences on his decision to cancel his concert the next day.
What happened the next day?
By the end of the morning, he first mentioned to his bodyguard that he was going to Nantes for the show. After a few minutes, it retracted. And decided to go to the american Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine. He arrived there at 15h06 (as evidenced by the ticket to the parking lot). His press secretary Fabien Lecoeuvre has requested that it be examined by doctor Siou, a general practitioner and not a cardiologist. It was decided to keep it “under observation” until the next day, for sinusitis.

there was definitely a communication operation mounted by Fabien Lecoeuvre.
Why have you stayed silent until today?
When we begin to speak of the danger of death, it seems normal to me to suspend the conflict. Then, I am not a doctor, it is not for me to judge if a sinusitis can be transformed, or not in a few hours to double pulmonary embolism with life-threatening engaged. We hope to have access to this medical record and, if it confirms the severity of the condition of Michel Polnareff as this was announced, I’ll be the first to make amends and to take up my responsibilities.
According to his statements in The new yorker, dr. Siou is the insinuation that you would have threatened. How do you react?
The multiplication of his media appearances is troubling. Lies have been spoken. He stated that the production would have been pre-warned of a scam, or even that we’d be threatened. I didn’t know this doctor, I do not know still not, I’ve never talked to him. We’ll see what outcome of this case.
did you Have insurance?
The real cause of the dispute, it is above all the doubts that exist around the reasons for these cancellations. As producers, we are entitled to take or not to take insurance. There is no obligation. I have contracted an insurance for the concerts de paris-Bercy for an amount of 80.000 euros, for four performances. I decided not to take insurance for the tour, because if one or two dates are cancelled, we can always refer in the planning of the tour. On the other hand, in our case, if I was insured, the insurance company would have appointed experts and taking into account the reasons blurred that surround these voids, we would not be compensated. In the best case, the compensation would have been suspended. Therefore, we assume the risk of the costs of these two cancellations in lieu of insurance.
do you Intend to prosecute?
I let the lawyers decide what action to take in this case. In regard to the seizure of the College of physicians, a reporter announced, incorrectly, that we had filed a complaint. However, we allow ourselves the latitude to make contact with this authority to be surprised that the doctor Siou could talk in the media of “threats” that we would have uttered against him.
Michel Polnareff said to be eager to get back on stage. Are you legally obligated to produce his next dates?
Our agreements with Michel Polnareff had to end with this tour. Nothing obliges us to work together in the future.
