The conductor Georges Prêtre died at the age of 92 in his castle of Navès in the Tarn – Franceinfo

The head of the orchestre français Georges Prêtre, who has regularly directed the Symphony Orchestra of Vienna, died Wednesday at the age of 92, announced that the philharmonic Society of Vienna.

“The philharmonic Society of Vienna is bereaved by the death of its honorary member, George Priest,” wrote on its web site the prestigious musical institution that includes the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra.

George Priest died in Navès, in the Tarn, where he lived and possessed the castle of Vaudricourt, has confirmed the deputy mayor of Navès responsible for culture, Brigitte Leases, which regularly organized animations with the conductor.
